A hat trick was scored by Yossi Benayoun on Thursday in the qualifying campaign for the 2012 European Championship. Israel won with 3-1 against Malta.
The goal was scored in the 7th, 64th and 75th minutes. This is the first competitive game of Israel coach Luis Fernandez since he took the charge in May this year.
The remaining games of Group F will be played on Friday. The match will be with Latvia hosting Croatia and Georgia visiting Greece.

Valencia and Atletico Madrid match was the first time in UEFA competition. The match was at Mestalla, Spain. The first UEFA match between these teams scored uniformly 2 for each. It was not a new experience for both teams playing against each other as they attended lot of domestic matches together.
Though in the first half of the match they couldn’t kick a goal, both worked well in the second match as Diego Forlan opened the goal hunt with his right footed shot low through the middle from the centre penalty area and scored 1- 0 for Atletico Madrid at the 59th minute. And Manuel Fernandes hits a right footed attempt to the lower left corner from the right channel and it counts for Valencia at the 67th minute. The next goal was from Antonio Lopez at the 72nd minute for Atletico Madrid and the last goal of the match by David Villa at the 82nd minute for Valencia. At the 90th minute both team scored 2-2 as well.
State de Gerland was the venue for Olmpique Lyonnais vs. Girondins de Bordeaux in the Champions League and Lyon could win over by 3-1 score.
