Hamburg was in a confidence to the Europa League quarterfinal match with Standard Liege as they could win over the last six European home outings match. But for Standard, their last time quarterfinal entry was long back ago in 1981/82 period.

The luck was with Hamburger as they won the match for 2-1 at HSH Nordbank Arena, Germany. The match was more competitive at its first half. Deiudonne Mbokani hits a header to the upper right corner from the centre penalty area and scored for Standard Liege at the 30th minute of the match. It was Mladen Petric who got a penalty goal for Hamburger at the 43rd minute and after two minutes Ruud van Nistelrooy hits a left footed shot to the lower right corner at the 45th minute for Hamburger.

The match was ended with Hamburger’s triumph on 2-1 scores.

Valencia scored a 3-1 win over Lille in the Europa League and took control of Group B at Mestalla. The winger Joaquin of Valencia gained a bracket and his goals gave Los Che a 2-0 half time lead. Juan Mata won the third goal before Lille acquired a last minute relief goal.
