  • Abou Diaby feels Gunners must be organised against AZ Alkmaar

    Wednesday
    Nov 4,2009

    Last game: Arsenal 3 - 0 Tottenham, 31 Oct
Next game: vs. Wolverhampton, 7 Nov 11:00pm

Abou Diaby, the midfielder of Arsenal, is looking for some solidity in the club’s defensive ranks when they welcome AZ Alkmaar in the Champions League at the Emirates on Wednesday night.

Team Arsenal looked forward of cruising to a straightforward victory against the AZ Alkmaar in Holland, but conceded a late equaliser. Abou Diaby, however, does not want any repeats of that lapse.

Diaby said to the media, “We have to be well organised and have a good position on the pitch.”

He added further saying, “The thing is we have to show it every time we play, that we are a great team and can achieve something at the end of the season… We learned a lot from the old experiences. Now we try to practice what we learned before and be better this season.”

About Diaby even believes that the Gunners have enough potential to go far in the Champions League this season.

To the Sky Sports Diaby said, “It is always good to win every game and stay in first place.”

  • Leeds United vs Norwich City 2:1

    Wednesday
    Oct 21,2009

The boys of Simon Grayson, manager of Leeds United, enjoyed a fortuitous victory at Ellan Road over the Norwich City on Monday.

Leeds is the only team this season in the country that have not been beaten and have also not lost at home since January this year.

Well, it was not easy to win against the Norwich City. Grayson said, “They are the best team that has come here this season and this was definitely the most difficult we’ve had.”

Grayson also added that the Norwich are a good footballing team and they had caused his team more problems than what was faced against the Liverpool recently. According to him Liverpool did not give the Leeds anything like the problems Norwich City did.

This generates a signal that the Norwich City may certainly be among the promotion contenders at the end of this season.

Lambert, the boss of Norwich City said, “I thought we were brilliant - absolutely terrific - and this was a game we deserved to win, no question… It was tough on young Fraser for the winner - but he will be all the better for this experience.”

    Saturday
    Sep 5,2009

Dwight Yorke, the former Manchester United Treble-winner, made announcement of his retirement. He is now 37 years old.

Last season at the end Dwight Yorke was released by Sunderland and now he is opting to hang up his boots, drawing very near to an eventful career at the zenith level where he is the captain of Trinidad and Tobago, his own country.

The finest achievement of Yorke was when he participated in the Manchester United’s Treble season of 1998-99. There with Andy Cole he had forged a prolific partnership and made the club win the FA Cup, Premier League and also the Champions League.

Let me quote Dwight Yorke what he said in the media recently: “It’s time to hang up my boots… While I’m still in great shape, I’m not getting any younger. I’ve had the time of my life. I hope people will say that I played the game in the right way with a smile on my face.”

He also added that he has been blessed really and he had played alongside with some of the popula players Roy Keane, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, David Beckham, Peter Schmeichel, and he had also played for the greatest manager in Sir Alex Ferguson.

Yorke also counted himself lucky because he was a boy on a Caribbean beach who got a chance make his dreams come true by winning highest level trophies and also captaining his country in their first ever World Cup finals.

  • Liverpool Boss Benitez concerned about Daniel Agger’s Injury

    Saturday
    Aug 22,2009

Rafael Benitez is still keeping the hope that Daniel Agger, the defender of Liverpool, will be ready for selection in a few weeks, although he missed much of pre-season due to back injury that may require surgery.

Benitez said on the official website of Liverpool, “Yes, he saw a specialist and maybe he will need an operation.”

He also added further that he don’t think that it will be long. He said that If everything goes well then it won’t take much time, maybe only few weeks.

Well, meanwhile, Martin Skrtel, Slovakian, is also facing a late fitness test to determine whether he will be playing in the Monday’s game against Aston Villa. He had injured his jaw in a clash with team-mate Jamie Carragher while playing against Tottenham Hotspur last week.

For him Benitez said, “He’s training. We had to decide the other day but it was too soon to take any risks. Okay, we’ll see on Monday.”

There is one more injury concern and he is star striker Fernando Torres. El Nino had a collision in the midweek game against Stoke City and he required stitches in his eyebrow after that. Benitez said that he is hopeful the Spaniard would play.

Benitez said, “He has some stitches but he’s okay.” He also added, “He’s training with his teammates and I think he’ll be okay for Monday.”
